WHO IS ARO?
Caroline Bergeron was born in Quebec in 1975. Her artist name, ARO, represents, beyond the diminutive of her first name, three words that have always inspired her: authenticity, romanticism, and originality. This future creator of emotions grew up in a family of entrepreneurs.
A self-taught artist, she says that art chose her at the age of 42. Who she is today has been shaped by her past as an entrepreneur, serving as Director of Business Development for Campbell’s Soups and as the owner of successful restaurants in Old Quebec.
She has always expressed her creativity through scrapbooking and cooking until that fateful day in February 2017 at the École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce, where a creative painting workshop turned her life upside down. It was a revelation that quickly became a revolution. Art had chosen her. The benefits of art pushed her in a new direction—one of embracing new possibilities and exploring her creativity by connecting with her intuition.
Since this professional shift, several milestones have marked her journey, including her meeting with Michelle Obama in 2019, where she personally presented one of her paintings, and her exhibition in 2018 at the Carrousel du Louvre in Paris.
ARO presents deeply personal solo exhibitions, including La Somme de mes rencontres (2018), Urgence de Vivre (2018), ParÊtre (2019), Le Temps nous appartient (2021), Renaître (2021), and Introspection (2022), all of which have been pivotal for her. In May 2023, she unveiled Non-Négociable, a bold and assertive exhibition, followed by ADN in 2024. Finally, her 2025 exhibition Réflexion will be a true consecration—unanimously confirming ARO’s place among the greats.
She participates in numerous international group exhibitions, which have led her to showcase her work in Canada, the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her pieces have been displayed at World Art Dubai and the Museum of Civilization in Cairo, Egypt.
She has been featured in numerous articles, reviews, and publications in books and specialized magazines, including the prestigious Architectural Digest in the United States. A 15-page article on her career, published in 2025 in Beyond Luxury Magazine in Los Angeles, solidifies her position in the international abstract art market.
Today, she is a prolific painter who also offers corporate team-building workshops, delivers conferences, writes books, and hosts creative days—all with the goal of changing the world, one artwork and one gesture at a time.
ARTISTIC APPROACH
ARO works his works in successive layers. Dripping and all-over with a knife are found in his work which is sometimes at the crossroads between lyrical abstract and geometric abstract. ARO has always used pure instinct to express his emotions. His need to delve into the heart of art history allowed him to learn a lot. Horizons have also opened up with the exploration of mediums. “Each work has its story. I draw from within myself and I share my thoughts, what lies within me,” explains the woman who feels artistically close to Pollock and Riopelle.
Questioning begins the creative process. The artist designs his work in the manner of a dance, where each step, gesture, movement corresponds exactly to an inner melody which is expressed in colors on the canvas, thus revealing a state of mind or a state of feeling. be. She is one with her work. ARO Action painting favors the physical act without figurative suggestion. The structure of the painting results from the energy and psyche that animate his body during creation. This ballet of expressed emotions is a testimony of the living body, in action, in movement.
“Art is a very powerful and unique emotional marker. Art provokes emotions.” For the artist, painting is a laying bare “a way of revealing oneself, of showing one’s vulnerability”. Painting is a liberation, a letting go. In this process of liberation, three acts stand out: being in the present moment, fulfilling the need to express oneself and inspiring people.
