WHO IS ARO?
Caroline Bergeron, known as ARO, was born in Québec in 1975. Her artist name brings together the three pillars that guide her practice: authenticity, romanticism, and originality. Raised in an entrepreneurial family, she grew up in an environment where vision, ambition, and calculated risk nurtured a creative imagination that would later take full flight.
A self-taught artist, ARO discovered abstract art in 2017 during the Elite Program at the École d’Entrepreneurship de Beauce. That moment marked a turning point: painting became not only an action, but an inner language. Her background in business development, her years in the corporate world, and her experience managing successful restaurants forged both discipline and human sensitivity—qualities that now permeate each of her works.
In 2018, she opened her creation studio and gallery space in Stoneham, a hybrid venue dedicated to exploration, dialogue, and cultural engagement. This anchoring point allows her to establish a structured professional presence and offer direct access to her visual universe.
Her artistic journey, rapid and steadily ascending, is marked by significant milestones: participation in the Carrousel du Louvre (2018), presenting a painting to Michelle Obama (2019), and a series of solo exhibitions illustrating the evolution of her abstract language— La Somme de mes rencontres (2018), Urgence de vivre (2018), ParÊtre (2019), Le Temps nous appartient (2021), Renaître (2021), Introspection (2022), Non-Négociable (2023), ADN (2024), and Réflexion (2025), considered by many as a mature synthesis of her practice.
ARO also participates in numerous group exhibitions across Canada, the United States, Europe, Africa, and Asia. Her works have been shown at World Art Dubai and at the Museum of Civilization in Cairo, confirming international interest in her abstract, emotional, and layered signature style.
Her growing visibility has been accompanied by substantial media coverage, including features in Architectural Digest and a 15-page profile in Beyond Luxury Magazine (Los Angeles, 2025), which positions her work within the North American contemporary art landscape.
In 2025, ARO received the Women of Inspiration™ Award from the Universal Women Network, recognizing both the impact of her artistic career and her social engagement.
Beyond painting, she has developed an expanded practice that includes corporate teambuilding workshops, keynote conferences, publications, and creative immersion days.
All these initiatives align toward a central mission that guides both her artwork and her public presence: to create a legacy for future generations by offering art that connects, soothes, challenges, and elevates.
Today, ARO stands as an artist whose deeply intuitive and embodied approach distinguishes her work through its ability to transform the intimate into a universal language. Her contribution to contemporary abstraction reflects a clear intention: to change the world—one artwork, one gesture, one legacy at a time.
ARTISTIC APPROACH
ARO explores a pictorial language where perspective dissolves in favor of an open field entirely devoted to emotional resonance. Through successive layers, controlled drippings, and an instinctive all-over approach—explicitly rooted in the legacies of Jackson Pollock and Jean-Paul Riopelle—she constructs surfaces where matter breathes, circulates, and records a precise inner state.
The circle, a recurring motif in several of her series, becomes an anchoring point for an abstraction that oscillates between lyrical expression and more structured composition, establishing a continuous dialogue between spontaneity and intention.
From the very beginning, ARO has embraced pure instinct. Her expansive, music-infused gestures verge on the ritualistic. She paints as she breathes: urgently, truthfully.
Writing and painting coexist within the same movement, allowing her to lay onto the canvas whatever inhabits her at the exact moment of creation. Each artwork carries a story—a fragment of life, an intimate question that becomes a universal point of connection for the viewer.
Her palette, textures, and movements always emerge from introspection. ARO conceives each painting as a dance — a succession of rhythms, pauses, and surges, where every mark laid on the canvas corresponds to an inner note.
The physical act is absolute. It reveals the psyche, the energy, and the presence of the body in motion, transforming the canvas into a living imprint of a singular moment.
Her collections reflect these shifting states of being. The “Pure” series evokes calm, benevolence, and an inner search for spaciousness. Other series, more expansive and energetic, celebrate joy, movement, and vital momentum, revealing a chromatic signature that is both rich and vibrant.
Her works draw their strength from this paradox: a profound emotional intensity expressed with complete creative freedom.
For ARO, art is a marker of memory, a catalyst for introspection, and at times, a form of healing. “I paint my existence; I offer my sensitivity,” she says. Abstraction thus becomes a relational language — a space where viewers recognize themselves, project their own narratives, and encounter the work as a shared emotional territory where something moves, resonates, and circulates.
Inspired by her encounters, by nature, and by the human experience, she creates in a state of deep listening. She observes, feels, connects, and translates. Painting, for her, is a form of liberation — a structured release articulated around three acts: fully inhabiting the present moment, expressing the inexpressible, and offering lasting inspiration.
Her mission remains clear: to create a legacy for future generations and to transform the world, one artwork at a time.
